High Court shock to Rajpal Yadav, punishment upheld in check bounce case!
The bench of Justice Swarnakanta Sharma termed the conduct of Rajpal Yadav as suspicious and ordered that all the sentences will run concurrently, hence he will have to undergo a jail term of three months. However, he has also been given two months time to challenge this order in the Supreme Court.
Along with the jail sentence, the court has also imposed a fine of Rs 1.05 crore in each case. In this way, the total fine in all seven check bounce cases comes to Rs 7.35 crore.
According to the court order, in each case Rs 1 crore 4 lakh 75 thousand will be given to the complainant while Rs 25 thousand will be deposited to the state. The High Court also said that if Rajpal Yadav wants to challenge this decision, he is given two months time to approach the Supreme Court.
This entire matter is related to the production of the actor’s film ‘Aata Pata Lapata’. In the year 2010, Rajpal Yadav had taken a loan of Rs 5 crore from Murali Projects Private Limited for this film, but the film was not successful at the box office and the loan amount could not be returned on time. Later, several checks issued for payment bounced, following which the company filed seven separate cases against him and his wife.
In this case, the trial court had earlier sentenced Rajpal Yadav and his wife to six months’ imprisonment. Later the Sessions Court also upheld this decision. After this the matter reached Delhi High Court.
