India’s e-commerce leader Flipkart has announced a 50 percent year-on-year growth in its food and nutrition division. According to the company, Gen Z customers and customers in Tier-2 and beyond cities are the major contributor to this growth. The company said that the demand for modern and nutritious food products has increased significantly from cities like Dhule, Imphal, Dharwad, Ujjain, Hubli, Mirganj and Laharpur.

Flipkart Minutes, a quick commerce service, accounted for 25 percent of the total demand in this segment, while Tier-II and beyond cities accounted for 65 percent of the total demand, the company explained. Healthy lifestyles, wellness trends, recipes on social media and recommendations from content creators are driving consumers’ growing interest in premium and nutritious products.
According to company data, Gen Z consumer demand has increased by 60 percent. Products like protein oats, high-protein peanut butter, protein muesli, gourmet chocolates and Korean flavored snacks are gaining popularity. At the same time, the search for healthy products such as cold-pressed oil, olive oil, genuine ghee, premium dry fruits and dates has registered an 80 percent increase in the last year.
Nishant Dalal, Vice President, Consumables, Flipkart, said that in India, food is no longer just a daily necessity, but has become associated with health, lifestyle and new experiences. He also mentioned that digital commerce is providing consumers across the country with more choices of quality food.

Meanwhile, Flipkart Food Fest 3.0 was attended by more than 50 food brands, more than 1,000 creators, as well as celebrities such as Farah Khan, Chef Kunal Kapoor, Chef Ranveer Brar and others. The special sale held from 7th to 15th July offered attractive offers, new product unveiling and experience to various food sections for the customers.
