Will E20 petrol reduce mileage or increase engine problems? The government gave a clear answer for the first time

Impact Of E20 On Engines: There has been a debate going on for a long time across the country regarding E20 petrol. There is a question in the minds of many vehicle owners whether this fuel mixed with 20 percent ethanol will reduce the mileage of the bike and car or will it have a bad effect on the engine. Now the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clarified its position on all these questions. Regarding this, the Ministry says that E20 petrol may cause a slight reduction in mileage in some vehicles, but the environmental and economic benefits in return are much more important.

Mileage may reduce by 3 to 5%

The Ministry has informed that by using E20 petrol, the mileage of some vehicles may reduce by 3 to 5 percent. But this does not mean that the fuel is harmful for the vehicle. The ministry says that E20 has a higher octane rating, which burns the fuel better and in many cases can also improve engine performance and pickup. Not only this, the government believes that the biggest advantage of E20 is that it will reduce pollution, reduce India’s dependence on foreign crude oil and strengthen the country’s energy security.

Can E20 damage engine?

Along with this, the biggest concern regarding E20 petrol has been the damage to the engine and fuel system. On this, the Ministry has clearly said that before implementing E20, extensive tests were conducted. It was implemented only after examining the engine, fuel system and other parts. The Ministry has said that in the feedback received from vehicle companies like Maruti Suzuki and Hero MotoCorp, no major problem like rusting or early wear of engine parts due to E20 has come to light.

Why will different petrol not be available?

It is seen that some people had demanded to make normal petrol, E10 and E20 available separately at petrol pumps. On this, the Ministry says that to do this, a separate supply chain will have to be created in the entire country, which will increase the cost and will also complicate the operations at petrol pumps.

What is the real purpose of E20?

The government says that the purpose of E20 petrol is not only to provide fuel but also to reduce dependence on foreign oil imports, reduce carbon emissions and increase the income of farmers. The ministry claims that due to the ethanol blending program, foreign exchange worth about Rs 1.97 lakh crore has been saved so far. Along with this, the government has appealed to the people not to believe the rumors spreading about E20 petrol. The ministry says that before implementing this fuel, detailed testing and evaluation has been done with experts and vehicle companies.
