UP Weather Alert – 30+ Districts on High Alert; Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Warning for 20 States

UP Weather Alert: The monsoon has fully established itself across North India. The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for most states in the country due to expected rainfall. Alerts for heavy rain and thunderstorms have been issued for 20 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Strong winds at 70 to 80 kilometers per hour are likely. While the rain is providing relief from the scorching heat, the continuous heavy downpour has caused waterlogging in some areas, leading to significant difficulties for residents.

North India is expected to bear the brunt of heavy rain and storms, though Eastern India may also face severe weather. Regarding the weather in UP, the Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for most parts of the state for Saturday. According to the IMD, heavy rain is expected in some parts of Western UP on Saturday. Additionally, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely across almost all areas of Eastern UP.

Rain Warning for UP

According to senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh, the rain-bearing system originating from the Bay of Bengal has now reached the vicinity of Madhya Pradesh. Its impact is now visible across most districts of UP. The monsoon has intensified in the state. Schools up to Class 12 remained closed in 13 districts of UP on Friday due to heavy rainfall. Now, heavy rain is expected across the entire state on Saturday as well.

Districts Expected to Experience Heavy Rain

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bijnor, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Shahjahanpur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Gorakhpur, Barabanki, Deoria, Ambedkar Nagar, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Mau, Lucknow, Hardoi, Ballia, Unnao, Sitapur, Raebareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, and Varanasi, as well as their surrounding areas in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, heavy rain is forecast for Shamli, Baghpat, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Amroha, Sambhal, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, and Sonbhadra.

The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Tripura, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. The department has also warned of the possibility of large hailstones in some areas.

A warning regarding thunderstorms and lightning strikes has been issued for Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Sitapur, Lucknow, Barabanki, Raebareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar. Nagar, and their surrounding areas.
