Indian captain Shreyas Iyer achieved a special feat in the fifth T20 International played against England in Southampton. By winning the toss for the seventh consecutive time, he equaled the record of former Indian captain MS Dhoni. After winning the toss, Iyer decided to bowl first. Shreyas Iyer has now jointly reached first place with MS Dhoni in this matter. Dhoni had won seven consecutive tosses between May 2010 and February 2012. England’s batsmen counterattacked
However, India did not get the advantage of winning the toss. The England team, which came to bat first, put pressure on the Indian bowlers from the very beginning. Captain Jos Buttler batted brilliantly and scored 131 runs in 64 balls. Whereas Harry Brook played an unbeaten inning of 95 runs. Both the batsmen together made a partnership of 233 runs for the second wicket, which became the highest partnership for any wicket in T20 International cricket.
A huge target facing India
Harry Brook completed his half-century in only 19 balls, while Jos Buttler scored a fifty in the first 34 balls and then completed a century in the next 17 balls. His innings included 12 fours and eight sixes. On the basis of the aggressive batting of these two batsmen, England scored a huge score of 257 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs. Indian bowlers could not maintain the rhythm in the entire match and the team had to face a difficult challenge.
