Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed a major program of the Indian community in Auckland, New Zealand. In the presence of about 40 thousand NRIs, he talked about taking the relations between India and New Zealand to new heights. This is the visit of an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand after almost 40 years, which is considered very important in terms of relations between the two countries.

Showed a 30 year old muffler and narrated a story.
During his address, PM Modi shared a three decade old memory. He told that even when he was not the Prime Minister 25-30 years ago, he got a chance to come to New Zealand. Then a local Indian gifted him a muffler, cap and gloves to protect him from the cold. He said that he has kept the same muffler even today and has brought it with him on this tour. This is not just a gift for them, but a sign of affection of the people here.
Why has PM Modi gone to New Zealand?
This visit of the Prime Minister is not limited to meeting only NRIs. During this, he held a meeting with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and discussed increasing cooperation in areas like trade, defence, maritime security, education, investment and technology. Both the countries have agreed on several important steps towards further strengthening their relations.

‘There is friendship, memories and trust too’
PM Modi said that the relationship between India and New Zealand is not limited to just diplomacy, but there is a deep bond between the people of the two countries. Referring to sports, culture and increasing participation of women, he said that together the two countries can create new possibilities for the future.
