Super Typhoon ‘Bavi’ wreaks havoc: 15 dead in Philippines, high alert in Taiwan-China-Japan

Manila/Taipei, July 11. Powerful super typhoon ‘Bavi’ has caused widespread devastation in the southern Philippines. At least 15 people have died so far in landslides caused by heavy rains. It is being told that this cyclonic storm is spread over an area of ​​more than 1,000 kilometers, whose size is believed to be almost equal to France.

At present, it is moving rapidly from the Pacific Ocean towards Taiwan, due to which there has been increased concern in the entire East Asia. Due to the impact of the storm, there is continuous torrential rain in Mindanao island of the Philippines. Due to rain, landslides occurred in many areas, in which many houses were buried under debris. The Meteorological Department has warned that the impact of the typhoon could cause extremely heavy rain and strong winds in northern and eastern parts of Taiwan and remote islands of Japan. At the same time, it is estimated that this super typhoon may hit the coastal areas of south-eastern China on Saturday. In view of this, high alert has been issued in the coastal areas of China and disaster management agencies have been instructed to remain alert.

Flights cancelled, schools closed

In view of the potential threat, many domestic and international flights have been canceled in the affected areas. As a precautionary measure, classes in schools have been postponed. At the same time, people have started purchasing essential goods, leaving the shelves of many supermarkets empty.
