Mid-Size SUV Report Card In June 2026: Maruti Victoris, Kia Seltos And Toyota Hyryder Take Top 3 Spots
Competition in the mid-size SUV segment continues to intensify. Numbers from June 2026 show an interesting shift in rankings. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris emerged as the top-seller last month. Here is a more detailed look at the rankings.
Mid-size SUVs are one of the biggest contributors to India’s passenger vehicle market. This strong demand is backed by their value-centric packaging and sharp pricing. In June, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, second-generation Kia Seltos and Toyota Hyryder took the top three spots in sales.
The Victoris sold 10,035 units in June. In May this year, it had sold 10,853 units. That means a month-on-month decline of 818 units or 7%. Maruti Suzuki launched the Victoris in September 2025. It is available with the same set of powertrains as the Grand Vitara- 1.5L mild hybrid petrol, 1.5L strong hybrid and CNG. Over the past few months, we have seen it emerge as a silent success for Maruti Suzuki in India.

The new Kia Seltos, launched in January 2026, ranked second. It sold 9,654 units in June. In May, it had sold 10,597 units- a month-on-month decline of 943 units or 8.9 percent. The new Seltos is available with the same set of powertrains as the model it replaced- 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L turbocharged petrol and 1.5L turbo-diesel.
However, the improvements made to its design and feature list have been attracting a lot of attention and boosting overall sales. Earlier this month, Kia even launched two new top trims to the SUV, which added even more features to it, further enhancing the overall appeal.

The Toyota Hyryder took the third spot in June sales. 9,104 Hyryders were retailed during the month. 8,664 units were sold in May. This translates to a month-on-month increase of 5% or 440 units. The Hyryder uses the same set of powertrains as the Victoris and Grand Vitara.

Maruti Suzuki’s Grand Vitara sold 9,092 units in June, 274 units less than May 2026 numbers. This means a 3% month-on-month drop. It is a badge-engineered version of the Hyryder and comes with the same set of powertrains.

Hyundai Creta ranked fifth, with 7,168 units sold in June. This is a drastic month-on-month drop. 15,235 Cretas were sold in May. Numbers have fallen by around 53%. The Creta is available with three engine options- 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L diesel and 1.5 turbocharged petrol.

At the sixth position is the new Tata Sierra that sold 6,392 units. These numbers include only the internal combustion version which comes with three engine options- 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L diesel and 1.5 turbo-petrol. More recently, the carmaker has launched the Sierra.EV with a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 18.79 lakh. Its deliveries are yet to commence.
Tata’s mid-size coupe SUV, Curvv, sold 1,753 units in June, marking a 4.4% month-on-month growth over May. In May, it had sold 1,680 units.

Volkswagen sold 1,182 units of the new Taigun during the month. 1281 Taiguns were retailed in May. This means a 7.7 month-on-month de-growth. Skoda sold 992 Kushaqs in June whereas May numbers stood at 1310 units. This translates to a larger 24.3% month-on-month fall. Both the Taigun and Kushaq received facelifts this year, which brought significant improvements to these SUVs. They offer two engine options- 1.0L turbocharged petrol and 1.5L turbocharged petrol.

And finally, the new Renault Duster sold 1,011 units last month. In May, its sales stood at 1267 units. This marks a month-on-month de-growth of 20% (256 units). For now, the Duster comes with two engine options- 1.0L turbo-petrol and 1.3 turbo-petrol. A 1.8L strong hybrid engine is expected to be introduced around the festive season.
You would have noticed it by now- the Victoris has not only emerged as the best-seller, but the Hyundai Creta has been pushed down to the fifth spot. This is unusual considering the fact that the Creta used to dominate this segment till last month. Even in May, it ranked first, selling 15,235 units. Back then, it kept a clear margin with the Victoris’ 10,853 units.
This drop in Creta’s sales cannot, however, be taken as a direct indicator of slowing market demand. It seems to have been caused by a fire at Mobis India Limited, on of Hyundai’s key suppliers based in Irrungattukottai, Kancheepuram. It broke out on May 31, and caused significant damages. This disrupted Hyundai’s production at large.
