Give evidence or apologize…..BJP furious over Omar Abdullah’s allegations, Sudhanshu Trivedi hits back

Knews DeskThese days political turmoil has intensified in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir. After Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s allegations of horse-trading of MLAs against BJP, the rhetoric between the two parties has intensified. BJP has completely rejected Omar Abdullah’s allegations and called them baseless and irresponsible. The party has demanded the Chief Minister to either present evidence in support of the allegations or apologize for his statement.

BJP national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said that there is no truth in the allegations made by Omar Abdullah. He alleged that the Chief Minister was making such statements to divert public attention from the failures and administrative shortcomings of his government.

Sudhanshu Trivedi said that if any MLA has been approached to change the party by luring him with money or post, then the Chief Minister should present concrete evidence of the same. He said that it is politically inappropriate to make such serious allegations without evidence. He asked Omar Abdullah to either give evidence or publicly apologize for his statement. The BJP leader also said that the National Conference and the Chief Minister should leave the politics of allegations and counter-allegations and focus on the development and administration of Jammu and Kashmir. He claimed that the state government was raising such issues to hide its failures.

In fact, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had claimed on Saturday that BJP had tried to woo a National Conference MLA in its favor. He alleged that the MLA was offered Rs 20 to 30 crore and a ministerial post to switch parties. Without naming anyone, Omar Abdullah said that a senior BJP leader, who is also a Supreme Court lawyer, met one of their MLAs and proposed him to leave the party. According to the Chief Minister, the MLA rejected this proposal and informed him about it.

Omar Abdullah raised the question whether BJP thinks that the trust of leaders and MLAs of Jammu and Kashmir can be bought with money or position. He said that his party leaders stand with the principles and trust of the public. In this matter, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy CM Surendra Chaudhary has also supported Omar Abdullah’s allegations. Taking aim at BJP, he said that its politics is based on lies. He claimed that BJP has been doing similar politics in the past also during elections and during power.

Surendra Chaudhary said that Omar Abdullah does not give any statement without investigation and whenever he puts forward something, there are facts behind it. He said that instead of responding to the allegations, BJP should clarify its political activities. At present, after this entire controversy, the round of allegations and counter-allegations has intensified in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir. While the National Conference is accusing the BJP of trying to break the MLAs, the BJP is calling it a strategy to divert attention from the government’s failures. n
