Ticket ordered on WhatsApp or its screenshot will not be considered valid and fine may be imposed for doing so.

New Delhi: If you use a ticket booked on WhatsApp or its screenshot to travel in the general compartment of a train, then be careful. Railways has made it clear that during checking, only the original digital ticket visible on the Rail One app will be valid. Any kind of screenshot, photo, PDF copy or ticket sent on WhatsApp will not be considered valid and doing so may attract a fine. On the other hand, people also seem angry on this rule.

According to the new rules of Railways, it is mandatory to have digital unreserved i.e. general ticket only on the same mobile phone from which it was booked. Additionally, passengers will have to purchase this digital ticket before the train leaves the station. Any booking made after the train starts will be considered invalid. This clarification comes after a passenger was recently fined for showing a WhatsApp screenshot instead of the original digital ticket.
