Arundhati Choudhary, the first female boxer from Rajasthan to reach the Commonwealth Games, was given 10-10 marks by three out of five judges in the first round, while in the second round she got full marks from four judges. In this round, New Zealand boxer Henderson had to lose one point due to warning. In the third round, three judges gave their verdict in favor of Arundhati.
Under the boxing format of the Commonwealth Games, both the players who lose in the semi-finals get bronze medals. With this victory, Arundhati Choudhary has confirmed her place in the semi-finals and now her aim will be to take India’s gold medal race forward by reaching the finals.
Arundhati Chaudhary is the fifth Indian to enter the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games 2026. Before them, Preeti, Priya, Jadumni Singh and Sakshi have also made it to the last four in their respective weight categories.
Priya made it to the next round by defeating Scotland’s Niamh Mitchell 4-1 on points in the quarter-finals of the women’s 60 kg category, while Preeti made it to the semi-finals with a 5-0 win against Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde in the women’s 54 kg category. After this, late on Tuesday night, Jadumni Singh entered the semi-finals by defeating Mwale Mwengo 5-0 in the men’s 55 kg quarterfinal match.
Before Arundhati on Wednesday, Sakshi had defeated Northern Ireland’s Caitlin Friars 5-0 in a one-sided fashion to reach the semi-finals of the women’s 51 kg category.
