‘I understand the selection process…’, Aaqib Nabi did not get a place in Sri Lanka Test series, Irfan Pathan raised questions on the selectors

Meanwhile, a big statement of former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has come out. He has targeted the selectors for not including Jammu and Kashmir’s star fast bowler Aaqib Nabi in the team.

Aaqib Nabi has done wonders in domestic cricket

Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Aaqib Nabi, who has been wreaking havoc with his fast bowling in domestic cricket for some time now, has tried his best to attract the attention of the selectors of Team India, but still in the absence of some regular fast bowlers, Aaqib Nabi did not get a place in the Test squad of the Indian team for the Sri Lanka tour. Aaqib is being ignored again and again. Now Irfan Pathan has slammed the selectors regarding this.

Irfan Pathan raised questions on Aaqib Nabi not getting a place in the team

Irfan Pathan said, “I have no logical answer for not selecting Aaqib Nabi in the team. I did not understand the selection process. Mohammed Siraj is your main bowler. When Jasprit Bumrah is not there, Siraj becomes your No. 1 bowler. Then what was the need to play him in that Test match against Afghanistan which was not even a part of the World Test Championship? If domestic performance matters, then why did you not reward Aaqib? He had himself That was the best opportunity to test myself and make my Test debut.”

Aaqib Nabi came into limelight from domestic cricket

The last domestic season of fast bowler Aaqib Nabi, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir, was like the fulfillment of a dream. He played an important role in winning the first historic trophy for Jammu and Kashmir in Ranji Trophy. He created a stir in the entire tournament by taking 60 wickets. Not only with the ball, but he also made important contributions to the team by batting in the lower order. After his performance, Aaqib Nabi was in great demand in the IPL 2026 auction also. Delhi Capitals included Aaqib Nabi in their team for a huge amount of Rs 8 crore 40 lakh.

After this he was included in India A. Recently Nabi played for Asia-A on Sri Lanka tour, where he bowled amazingly. He took 6 wickets in two four-day matches. However, despite consistently performing well and being familiar with Sri Lankan pitches, Aaqib Nabi was not included in Team India’s squad for the Test series. Once again the selectors have ignored him.
