Iran’s big move, hours after Trump-Netanyahu meeting, claims missile attack on US military base

New Delhi: Tension seems to be increasing once again in West Asia. America has claimed that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired ballistic missiles targeting American military bases deployed in the Middle East. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), this attack was done suddenly, but all the missiles were intercepted in time. Because of this, no American military base was damaged and there were no casualties.

What did CENTCOM say?

The US Central Command said in a statement issued on social media that several ballistic missiles were fired from Iran. The American air defense system was fully active and destroyed all the missiles before they could reach the target. CENTCOM also said that the American troops present in the area are fully alert and ready to deal with any possible threat.

Jordan’s American base declared a target

According to American media reports, Iran fired missiles in the direction of an American military base located in Jordan. This is being seen as the biggest military action on American bases in recent times. However, according to initial information, no loss of life or property has been confirmed in this incident.

Kuwait and Qatar expressed concern

After the attack, Gulf countries also reacted. Kuwait condemned this action, saying that it could threaten regional peace and security. Qatar supported the sovereignty of Jordan and said that violation of the territorial integrity of any country cannot be accepted. Both countries also appealed to reduce tension.

Incident came to light after Trump-Netanyahu meeting

This development came to light a few hours after the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Issues like Iran, nuclear program and regional security were discussed in the conversation between the two leaders. Soon after this, the news of missile attack made the situation more serious.
