Swiggy closed from 15th August! Hotel Association warns of boycott, know what is the whole matter
Swiggy Bengaluru Boycott: Problems for online food delivery platform Swiggy may increase in the country's tech city Bengaluru. In fact, Bengaluru Hotels Association (BHA) has warned that it will stop doing business with them if the concerns regarding payment transparency, unauthorized deductions and advertising charges are not addressed. The association said that its associated hotels and other hospitality institutions in Bengaluru will completely stop taking orders and delivery from Swiggy from August 15. The association said it has given the company one last chance to resolve the issues through talks before taking the proposed action.
A press release issued on Wednesday Bengaluru Hotels Association Said that all the associated associations have unanimously decided that if the payment related complaints are not rectified, they will stop doing business with Swiggy from Independence Day. The association said that failing this, all our associations in Bengaluru have unanimously decided to suspend all business with Swiggy from August 15.
Association put conditions before Swiggy
The association alleges that Swiggy was deducting advertising and promotional charges without taking written or digital approval from hotel owners before launching Cost Per Click (CPC), CPA or promoted advertisements. It also demanded a one-click opt-out option for advertisements without any subsequent charges. BHA called for more transparency in payment statements, saying commission, GST, CPC advertising charges, offers and other promotional deductions should be disclosed separately. It also objected to levy of service charge on GST amount collected from customers for remittance to the government.
According to the association, due to irregularities in the accounting system and multiple deductions, many hotel owners are getting less than 50 percent of the billed order value, which is affecting their financial condition. Speaking to news agency PTI, Honorary President of the association, PC Rao, said that the main concern is the payout mechanism of the platform. He said that the main problem is that the payment and payout system is not working properly. Too many cuts are being made.
Many other charges apart from service charge
Rao clarified that the association is not against Swiggy's service fees, but has objection to the additional deductions imposed without approval. He said that we have no objection to the service charge. They can take whatever service charge there is. But apart from this, they are deducting extra service charges, payout charges, advertisement charges, map-up charges and many other charges without our approval. He alleged that some restaurants were getting only Rs 40,000-50,000 instead of the payout of Rs 1 lakh, despite repeatedly raising the issue with the company.

Swiggy has time till 15th August
PC Rao clearly said that if Swiggy improves these problems in the next 15 days, we will continue to work with them. Otherwise, we have no other option; We will come out. He said the association has not stopped the services yet and will wait till August 15 before taking a final decision. If Swiggy's services are discontinued, the association will make other arrangements to minimize the inconvenience to customers. Swiggy did not immediately respond to the allegations or the proposed boycott.
