Mayawati expressed gratitude to the Yogi government, targeting the SP, and finding out why.

BSP supremo Mayawati has welcomed a recent decision by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Yogi Adityanath recently announced the renaming of Bhadohi district to Sant Ravidas Nagar, a decision for which Mayawati expressed her gratitude. The former UP Chief Minister also called on the Yogi government to restore the original names of districts named after Kanshi Ram and other great figures, which were changed during the Samajwadi Party (SP) government. Mayawati strongly criticized the Samajwadi Party.

Mayawati wrote in an X-post, “The BSP government had created a new district named Sant Ravidas Nagar, giving Bhadohi the status of state headquarters. The Samajwadi Party (SP) government, driven by its narrow casteist mindset, had changed it. Now, the UP government has renaming Bhadohi to Sant Ravidas Nagar, for which the BSP is grateful to the state government.” During the BSP government’s tenure, numerous new districts, tehsils, development blocks, police zones, and ranges were created to streamline the administrative system and improve public welfare. Many of these districts were named after great saints, gurus, and prominent figures from the Dalit and Other Backward Classes. In this vein, several new districts, including Sant Ravidas Nagar, Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Nagar, and Bhim Nagar, were renamed by the SP government solely due to its casteist mindset, hatred, and narrow-minded politics, a fact that people will never forget.

The former Chief Minister stated that for the proper development of the Kasganj area in the Braj region, Kasganj was given the status of district headquarters and a new district named after Kanshi Ram. The SP government, due to its anti-PDA and anti-Dalit attitude, changed its name. In such a situation, it is requested to the UP government that like Sant Ravidas Nagar, it would be appropriate if the original names of the new districts created in the name of Kanshi Ram ji and other great men are restored and if this work is done before Kanshi Ram ji’s death anniversary on 9 October or on the same day, then BSP will be grateful for it.
