Kolasi, Katihar. Thieves broke into a mobile shop in Kolasi market of Koira block and stole mobile phones worth about three lakh rupees. The incident took place in Tanveer Alam’s mobile shop located on the road leading from Kolasi market towards Simaria. After this incident of theft, there is an atmosphere of panic among the shopkeepers of the market. According to the information received, Tanveer Alam had closed his shop at around 8 pm like every day and went home.
When he arrived to open the shop in the morning, he found the goods inside in disarray. Several mobile phones were missing. He then went to the back of the shop and found signs of a break-in. The thieves had broken into the shop and fled with the mobile phones.
After the incident, empty mobile boxes were also found thrown behind the shop, from which it is being estimated that the thieves took out the mobiles, left their boxes there and fled with the mobiles. Shopkeeper Tanveer Alam immediately informed the Kolasi Police Camp in-charge Shravan Kumar about the incident through mobile phone. On receiving the information, Shravan Kumar reached the spot with the police force and inspected the shop and the surrounding area. The police took information related to the theft incident from the shopkeeper and inspected the spot.
Police camp in-charge Shravan Kumar has asked the shopkeeper to submit a written application regarding the incident. Upon receiving the application, the police will take further legal action in the matter. Meanwhile, the incident of burglary and theft of mobile phones worth lakhs of rupees from a shop in Kolasi Bazaar has raised concerns among local shopkeepers.
Shopkeepers have demanded increased police patrols in the market area at night to curb thefts. Police are expected to try to identify the thieves based on footage from nearby CCTV cameras and other possible clues.
