India’s strong performance in boxing at the Commonwealth Games 2026 continued as Lovlina Borgohain, Sachin Siwach, and Narender Berwal won their semifinal matches to advance to the finals in Glasgow.
In the men’s 90+kg category, Narender Berwal defeated Trinidad and Tobago’s Nigel Paul in the semifinal to book his place in the gold medal contest. Berwal’s commanding display and composed approach ensured India’s heavyweight hopes remained alive.
Sachin Siwach secured a confident victory against Wales’ Owain Harris-Allan in the men’s 60kg semifinal, advancing to the final and enhancing India’s strong lightweight campaign at the Games.
Lovlina Borgohain continued her impressive showing in the women’s 75kg division by defeating Tuvalu’s Tarona Khanum Badi Pasoni Taafaki in the semifinal, progressing to meet Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree in the gold medal bout.
Overall, 10 out of the 14 Indian boxers have advanced to the finals in Glasgow, including Sakshi Chaudhary, Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria, Priya Ghanghas, Arundhati Choudhary, Lovlina Borgohain, Jadumani Singh, Sachin Siwach, Ankush Panghal, and Narender Berwal. This strong presence highlights India’s dominance and sets the stage for multiple medal opportunities.
Boxing Federation of India President Ajay Singh praised the boxers’ attitude and performances, stating that the sport in India is making significant progress and will contribute the highest number of medals for the country at the Games. He also noted that five more gold medal bouts were scheduled for the evening session.
“All the boxers are playing with a great attitude… Boxing in India is significantly progressing and the sport will contribute the most medals among the Commonwealth medals in the country… There are ongoing battles for gold, with five more fights scheduled for the evening session,” Ajay Singh said.
