Kulgam Terror Attack: Security agencies are once again concerned by incidents of targeted killings in Jammu and Kashmir. Terrorists attacked two migrant workers from Chhattisgarh working at a brick kiln in Kulgam district. Another worker injured in the attack died during treatment on Saturday morning. This is the second such incident in the last 10 days in which terrorists have targeted civilians.
According to police officials, terrorists opened fire on workers at a brick kiln in the Kellam area of Kulgam district in South Kashmir late Friday evening. Two migrant workers were seriously injured in the attack.
Deepak Ratre died on the spot, while the other injured worker, Bhupinder, was initially taken to GMC Anantnag. He was later referred to SKIMS Hospital in Soura, Srinagar, where he also succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Both laborers were residents of Chhattisgarh.
Officials stated that the two laborers who died in the attack were between 20 and 30 years old and residents of Chhattisgarh. Both were working at a brick kiln in Kulgam.
This incident is the second targeted killing in less than 10 days. Previously, terrorists shot and killed a police officer in Anantnag city. The continued occurrence of such incidents has once again raised questions about security in the Valley.
Earlier in 2024, several attacks on non-Kashmiris took place in Jammu and Kashmir. On February 7, 2024, two laborers from Punjab, Amritpal Singh and Rohit Masih, were shot and killed in a terrorist attack in the Shaheed Ganj area of Srinagar. The Kulgam incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of migrant laborers in the Valley.
