Irfan Pathan’s advice before the second ODI, said – Indian team should not make changes in the playing eleven.

Irfan Pathan Advises Team India: Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan believes that the Indian team should not make changes in its playing eleven in the second ODI against England without any compulsion. He says that the best decision for the team would be to keep faith in the winning combination in the first match.

Indian bowlers had performed well

India made a great start to the ODI series by defeating England by 6 wickets in the first match played at Edgbaston. First the Indian bowlers restricted England to 258 runs, after which Team India achieved the target of 259 runs in 45.2 overs by losing only 4 wickets.

However, the fitness of captain Shubman Gill and fast bowler Gurnoor Brar during the first ODI increased the team’s concerns. Gill retired hurt and walked out of the field due to a hamstring strain, while Gurnoor also looked uncomfortable during the match.

What did Irfan Pathan say?

Before the second ODI, Irfan Pathan said, ‘The most important thing is to maintain this winning streak. When you win the match, there is no need to make much changes in the team. There is a difference of only one day between the two matches. In such a situation, there will be more pressure on England to make a comeback, whereas India’s situation is better.’

He said that the biggest concern for the Indian team should be the fitness of the players. ‘I will just keep an eye on two things – how serious is Gurnoor Brar’s injury and the condition of Shubman Gill’s hamstring. If both of them are fit then I don’t think there is a need for any major changes in the team.’

Rohit and Virat settled quickly

India did not have a good start in the first ODI. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were out early, but Shubman Gill took charge of the team by playing a brilliant inning of 80 runs. After this, Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar made an unbeaten century partnership to give India an easy victory.

Discussion in Kuldeep Yadav’s match

Pathan also expressed his opinion on the discussion of playing Kuldeep Yadav in the second ODI. He said, ‘If Gill and Gurnoor are fully fit, then there should not be any change in the team just for the sake of making changes. There is definitely discussion about Kuldeep, but for now it would be better to keep faith in the winning combination.’

Now all eyes will be on the fitness report of Shubman Gill and Gurnoor Brar before the second ODI, because this will decide whether the Indian team goes with its winning combination or is forced to make changes.
