Movement demanding separate country intensifies in PoK, JAAC leader said- ‘We want our own country’

New Delhi: The demand for a separate independent country in Pakistan’s illegally occupied Kashmir (PoK) seems to be intensifying once again. Sardar Aman Kashmiri, a prominent leader of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), while addressing a public meeting, announced to continue the movement and said that his aim is to give the people their own separate homeland. His address given before the proposed long march towards Muzaffarabad has increased the stir in the politics of the region.

What did Aman Kashmiri say?

Addressing the gathering, Aman Kashmiri said that every person should have the right to live in his own country, his own government and with his own rights. He claimed that the people of PoK are now fighting for their rights and are not going to bow down to any pressure. According to him, the basic objective of the movement is to give the people of the area their rights.

JAAC leader accused

The JAAC leader also alleged that the workers associated with the movement are receiving continuous threats. He said that many people have been threatened with death and there have been reports of rewards being announced on the heads of some. Despite this, the agitators are not ready to back down and will continue their campaign.

A large number of families involved in the movement

Aman Kashmiri also mentioned the public support the movement is getting. He said that various sections of the society including women, youth, businessmen and children are supporting this campaign. According to him, a large number of families are joining the movement, due to which people’s anger and demands are getting widespread support.

During his speech he also criticized the mainstream political leaders of PoK. He alleged that the local leadership has failed to live up to the expectations of the people and seems to be standing with the powers that be instead of protecting the interests of the people.

Long march started

Meanwhile, JAAC has started its long march towards Muzaffarabad, in which thousands of people are expected to participate. However, the Pakistan government and the PoK administration have not yet given any official response to the demands and allegations of JAAC. In fact, the public anger that has been going on in the area for several weeks regarding electricity, water, inflation and basic facilities has now started coming out in the form of a demand for a separate country.
