How to do Trataka Kriya

  • Sit alone in a quiet room in a comfortable posture of meditation.
  • Keep your body loose and spine straight.
  • Keep the flame of a clearly visible object, a candle or an earthen lamp at eye level. Keep in mind, the distance of the object from the eyes should be about two and a half feet.
  • After this, try to concentrate your entire attention on that object.
  • Let all the thoughts leave your mind easily.
  • Keep looking at the object without blinking until your eyes get tired.
  • Take a deep breath, close your eyes and try to keep the image of the object in your mind. This is necessary to awaken your third eye.
