Glasgow: India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra once again made his presence felt on the international stage by winning the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026. Neeraj won the silver medal with a throw of 85.83 meters, while fellow Indian Yashvir Singh took the bronze. This gave India a double podium finish in the men’s javelin throw.
This medal was also special for Neeraj because with this he became the first Indian athlete in the history of Commonwealth Games to win both gold and silver medals in javelin throw.

Regarding the future of Indian javelin throw, Neeraj said that even if he is not on the field or is sidelined due to injury, India still has good throwers capable of winning medals. He also mentioned Yashvir’s entry into the 85m club and Rohit Yadav’s good performance.
He said that talent is continuously emerging in the country regarding javelin throw and he is very happy to see this.
‘I only had one good throw today’
Neeraj Chopra, assessing his performance, admitted that he had only one good throw in the final. He felt the rest of his attempts could have been better.
Neeraj also shared his concerns about the cold weather in Glasgow, saying that he struggles to perform in the cold weather and feels better in warmer weather.
Despite this, Neeraj gave his best performance of the season and after returning from injury, his form seems to be moving in the right direction.

Yashvir Singh also had a special performance in Glasgow, winning the bronze medal and carrying the Indian flag to the podium alongside Neeraj Chopra.
