Punjab News: With the completion of 17 months of the ‘War Against Drugs’, the decisive war against drugs launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Police has registered 54,916 FIRs and arrested 75,102 drug smugglers since March 1, 2025, as a result of which 3472 kg of heroin has been recovered.
Since the beginning of this anti-drug campaign, under the guidelines of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, Punjab Police is running simultaneous campaigns daily in all the 28 police districts of the state.
871 kg opium also recovered
Special DGP (Law and Order) Praveen Sinha said that apart from the huge recovery of 3472 kg of heroin, the police have so far recovered 871 kg of opium, 425 quintal of hashish, 86 kg of charas, 1193 kg of ganja, 60 kg of ICE, 60.78 lakh intoxicating pills/capsules and drug money worth Rs 21.64 crore.
91 drug smugglers arrested on 518th day
On the 518th day, Punjab Police arrested 91 drug smugglers and recovered 20.3 kg heroin, 15,249 intoxicating pills/capsules and drug money worth Rs 3800 from their possession. As part of the de-addiction campaign, Punjab Police convinced 11 persons to give up drug addiction and undergo rehabilitation treatment.

Apart from this, the police teams continued the ‘Gangster Te War’ campaign on the 193rd day and conducted 586 raids and arrested 350 persons along with four weapons, while taking precautionary action against 230 persons and also arrested four fugitive criminals.
