Today Weather Update: Red alert of heavy rain in 12 states including UP, Bihar, Delhi, strong winds increase IMD’s concern

Monsoon has once again become active across the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain in many states, strong thunderstorm and hailstorm in some areas for August 2. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather may change rapidly in the next few hours in 12 states of North and Eastern India. In some areas the wind speed is likely to reach 85 kilometers per hour. In such a situation, people have been advised to be cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.

Alert of heavy rain and storm in these 12 states

According to IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorm in many districts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal. There is also a risk of falling trees, disruption of power supply and damage to crops due to strong winds.

Weather will be more active in Delhi-UP-Bihar

Winds can blow at a speed of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour with moderate to heavy rain in Delhi. An alert of heavy rain and strong storm with a speed of 70 to 75 kilometers per hour has been issued in many districts of Uttar Pradesh including Meerut, Agra, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya.

Yellow alert has been issued regarding rain and strong winds in many districts of Bihar including Patna, Gaya, Darbhanga, Purnia, Kishanganj, Samastipur and Bhagalpur.

Danger increased in hilly states also

There is a possibility of heavy rain in many districts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir for the next few days. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to be cautious in view of the possibility of landslides, road blockage and rising water level in rivers and streams.

Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh also on alert

Warning of heavy rain and storm has also been issued in many parts of Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Wind speed in these states can reach 50 to 60 kilometers per hour. Farmers have been advised to exercise special caution while working in the fields.

The Meteorological Department has appealed to people to stay away from open spaces, trees and electric poles during bad weather. It has been advised to stay in a safe place during heavy rains and storms, keep an eye on the latest updates related to the weather and follow the guidelines issued by the administration.
