Jagannath Rath Yatra 2026: 1 devotee killed, more than 50 injured in stampede in Puri Rath Yatra

Lucknow, Read: Braving intermittent rain in the Odisha pilgrimage town of Puri, lakhs of devotees on Thursday gathered to witness the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, one of the biggest and most sacred religious festivals in the country.

Amidst the shouts of ‘Jai Jagannath’ and ‘Hari Bol’, the sound of conch shells and the beat of cymbals and traditional instruments, when three huge and brilliantly decorated wooden chariots moved towards the Gundicha temple, a crowd of devotees gathered to see them, but in the meantime a stampede broke out in which one devotee is reported to have died, while about 100 people have been injured.
