‘Everything is fine, will follow the party line’, Channi’s tone changed after the meeting

Amidst the turmoil in Punjab Congress, former CM and Campaign Committee Chairman Charanjit Singh Channi met the party leadership in New Delhi on Thursday. After the meeting, Channi said that we are dedicated to the party and the party line will be followed. Channi’s meeting with the high command and his statement are very important amid the tussle in Punjab Congress. Let us tell you that there is a political tussle going on in Punjab Congress between the current state president Amarinder Singh Raja Vading and Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi.

 

Charanjit Singh Channi met organization general secretary KC Venugopal in New Delhi. Channi described Rahul Gandhi as his leader and said that he has presented his views before the high command. Whatever decision the party takes, it will be accepted. Our aim is not to humiliate anyone.

Let us tell you that since the time of Amarinder Singh government, Punjab Congress has not been able to overcome factionalism. The first political tussle took place between Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu. Later, when Channi was made the CM, factionalism emerged at that time also. Now factionalism continues between Punjab Congress President Raja Vading and Channi. Both the camps are busy demonstrating their respective strengths.

 

We stand with the party: Channi

After the meeting with the high command on Thursday, Charanjit Singh Channi said, ‘Everything is fine. We are dedicated to the party. We will follow the party line. Channi further said that today many leaders were called here (Delhi) and we have expressed our views. He said, ‘One thing is very clear that we stand with the party. We respect the party high command. Rahul Gandhi is our leader. We respect him very much.

‘The intention is not to humiliate anyone’

The Jalandhar MP further said, ‘All our workers and leaders are standing strongly with the party and will continue to do so. Our intention is not to embarrass or humiliate anyone. We just want to take the party forward in Punjab. We have kept our point. The high command has listened to us. The final decision will always be that of the high command, whatever decision they take, we will accept it and move ahead accordingly. Everything is fine. We are dedicated to the party. We will follow the party line.
