Iran’s big counterattack! US Navy Headquarters blazed in Bahrain, also attacked in Kuwait. Iran Attacks US Military Bases in Bahrain and Kuwait After American Strikes
Iran on Thursday targeted American military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait in response to America’s latest military action. According to Iranian state media, Iran carried out airstrikes on the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and a US military base located in Kuwait.
Iranian media claims that a fire broke out after the attack on the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. At the same time, Iranian media also released some videos, which were claimed to show targeting of the American military base in Kuwait. Iranian media described this base as “a hideout of American terrorists”. According to reports, several explosions were heard in Manama, the capital of Bahrain. Shortly before this, officials had sounded air raid sirens warning of a possible attack.
What did Kuwait say?
This development took place at a time when Iran’s Revolutionary Guards had warned that they would give a “befitting and devastating response” after the latest US military action. On the other hand, Kuwait’s army said that its air defense system is stopping “enemy missile and drone attacks”.
“The explosions that were heard are the result of our air defense system’s action to intercept enemy attacks,” Kuwait’s military general staff said in a post on Twitter. However, the army did not say from which side the missiles and drones had come.
What did Bahrain’s Interior Ministry say?
Earlier, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry had confirmed that air raid sirens were sounded after Iran’s Revolutionary Guards threatened to retaliate against America. The Home Ministry posted on Twitter, “Sirens have been sounded. All citizens and residents are appealed to remain calm and move to their nearest safe place.”
Had America carried out attacks before this?
Earlier on Thursday, America had launched another major military attack on Iran. America says that these attacks have been carried out to ensure the safe movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz. According to America, this action was taken after the attacks on three cargo ships passing through this important sea route on Tuesday.
What did Donald Trump say on ceasefire?
These attacks were carried out at a time when US President Donald Trump said that the ceasefire to end the war with Iran is now “over.” According to reports, due to the American attacks, there were massive explosions in many cities of the southern coastal areas of Iran and power supply was also affected in some areas.
What did the US military say?
“US Central Command forces have launched additional strikes to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” the US military’s Middle East command, CENTCOM, wrote on Twitter. CENTCOM further said, “The United States holds Iran responsible for the recent unprovoked attacks on commercial vessels and civilian crews transiting international waterways.”
Will the situation worsen now?
After Iran’s attack, the situation seems to be becoming more critical. Donald Trump has already warned about this. Trump had said that if there is another attack, the situation will worsen. He wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, “This action has been taken in response to the attacks on ships carried out by Iran yesterday. If this happens again, the situation will be even worse.”
How important is the Strait of Hormuz?
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes. Before the US and Israel began air strikes on Iran on February 28, about one-fifth (about 20%) of the world’s oil passed through this route. Although Iran has not taken responsibility for the attacks on cargo ships, America is continuously blaming Tehran for these attacks.
Is the hope of ceasefire over?
After these new attacks, questions have also been raised on the future of the Interim Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on June 17, which had raised hopes of ending the war. When Trump was asked before the NATO summit in Turkey whether this interim agreement should now be considered over, he said, “That is a very interesting question. In my view it is over. I don’t want to talk to them anymore.” Trump further said, “Even if we make a deal with Iran, I don’t think it will last. I have found them to be extremely dishonest people.”
However, despite saying that the agreement is almost over, Trump said that he does not think that this conflict will again take the form of full-scale war. He also said that nothing has been decided yet whether there will be further talks for a permanent solution or not. Trump said, “Whatever happens now, it will be over very quickly … and this will make the situation more secure than before, especially in terms of oil supply.”
