Magh Mela 2027 Prayagraj: Preparations have intensified for the Magh Mela, to be held on the sands of the Sangam in Prayagraj. The fair administration has announced the duration of the fair and the dates of major bathing festivals. According to the administration, the Magh Mela will last for 51 days, and various departments have been instructed to complete their preparations on time.
The first major bathing festival of the fair will coincide with Makar Sankranti on January 15th. This will be followed by the bathing festival of Paush Purnima on January 29th. On February 5th, on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, devotees will take a holy dip in the Sangam. This will be followed by the bathing festival of Basant Panchami on February 11th. Another important bathing event of the Magh Mela will take place on Maghi Purnima on February 20th. The fair will conclude with the bathing festival of Mahashivratri on March 6th.
Fair administration busy in preparations
With the dates for the bathing festivals finalized, the administration has directed the relevant departments to expedite preparations for the fair. The ADM Magh Mela has directed the relevant departments, including the Jal Nigam, Jalkal, Electricity Department, Police Commissioner, Railways, and Roadways, to prepare their action plans by January 6th. The aim is to ensure that devotees visiting the fair face no difficulties and that all necessary arrangements are fully prepared before the major bathing festivals.
Focus on water, electricity and security
Given the large number of devotees expected to attend the Magh Mela, the administration’s focus will be on providing drinking water, electricity, sanitation, security, and traffic. The concerned departments have been instructed to complete their respective tasks on time. Furthermore, instructions have been given to expedite the procurement process for essential items used at the fair. The administration wants to ensure that supplies and resources are arranged in advance to avoid last-minute difficulties.
The fair will continue for 51 days in the Sangam city.
