Sakshi Chaudhary won gold medal in 51 kg category
Indian boxer Sakshi Chaudhary defeated England’s Ruby White 5-0 in the women’s 51kg final at the Commonwealth Games at SEC Hall 5 on Saturday. Sakshi dominated all three rounds of the match and gave her opponent no chance to come back. The first round went completely in Sakshi’s favour, with all five judges giving her a decision. Ruby then staged a remarkable comeback in the second round, with all four judges giving her 10-10 points. In the final round, Sakshi once again showed her dominance, earning 10-10 points from all five judges. Sakshi’s stunning victory gave India its third gold medal in boxing.
Priya’s stunning comeback after the first round
Indian boxer Priya Ghanghas and Canada’s Marie-Bathul Al-Ahmadiyeh faced off in the final of the women’s 60kg category. Priya Ghanghas defeated Canada’s Marie-Bathul Al-Ahmadiyeh 4-1. The Canadian boxer from the ‘Blue Corner’ won the first round 3-2, in which three judges gave her a score of 10-10. However, Priya made a strong comeback in the next round and got 10-10 from all four judges. In the final round, Priya performed brilliantly and won the title fight by getting 10-10 from all four judges. With Priya’s performance, India has now won another gold medal in boxing at this Commonwealth Games.
