UP News: A case has been filed in the Kotwali police station area of Varanasi against MP Pappu Yadav, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad. The Sant Samaj has alleged that Pappu Yadav’s saffron-clad protest in the Parliament complex hurt the sentiments of the Sant Samaj and Sanatan Dharma. The saints submitted a petition to the police demanding action in this matter.
Saints in Varanasi alleged that the protest, conducted wearing saffron robes in the Parliament complex, hurt religious sentiments. They said it was an insult to the Sant Samaj and Sanatan Dharma. Police have registered a case after receiving the complaint.
Awadhesh Prasad targeted the government
After the FIR was registered, Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad said that the theft of donations and offerings is a matter related to the faith of crores of devotees of the country. He alleged that this issue was highlighted by Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav and the government is trying to save the culprits. He also said that a crime against religion has been committed and its culprits will not be forgiven.
Saints demand action
Meanwhile, the saint community says that statements are being made against the saint community and Sanatan Dharma. Baba Balak Das, head of the Patalpuri Peeth, said that the manner in which Pappu Yadav, wearing saffron robes, protested hurt religious sentiments. He demanded that strict action be taken against the accused, otherwise the saints and sages would be forced to protest.
What did the DCP say?
Varanasi’s DCP, Kashi region, Gaurav Vanshval, stated that a complaint was filed by the saints at the Kotwali police station. Based on the complaint, a case is being registered. He added that the saints, citing a video, have alleged that the wearing of saffron robes has insulted the saint community. Further legal action is being taken on this basis.
