Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has written a letter to the people of the state. On the auspicious occasion of Shravan, CM Yogi urged the people of the state to save water, protect nature and participate in social activities. CM Yogi shared his letter on social media platform X.
CM Yogi wrote, “My respected citizens of the state, the month of Shravan is a sacred festival of public welfare, respect for labor and collectivity. Nature gives the message of new creation, and the hard work of the farmer begins to bear fruit in the form of green prosperity. In the eternal culture, this newness of nature, along with the worship of Shiva, shows us the path of restraint, service and harmony in life.”
Drinking the Halahal of Lord Shiva during the Samudra Manthan is a symbol of the supreme sacrifice he made to save the universe. The tradition of offering water to him is an expression of the same sacrifice, gratitude and public welfare. The Supreme Lord Mahadev himself is the god of understanding nature. The Ganges flowing in his braided hair, the moon adorned on his head, the serpent around his neck, Nandi and his followers – all these convey the message of coexistence with nature. After the heat of Jyeshtha and Ashadha, when the drizzle of Shravan touches the earth, the sweet fragrance of the earth and greenery spreads around. The rivers flow in their full glory, and the dance of peacocks becomes a proclamation of the joy of creation.
This enthusiasm is reflected in the form of new energy in life from villages to cities. The communal meal shared by people involved in collective labour after rice cultivation in rural areas during Shravan is a living symbol of a shared culture. From villages to cities, the faith of devotees thronging Shiva temples creates a wonderful atmosphere of service, cleanliness and social participation.
