With this figure, this film has joined the list of biggest opener films in history. The craze that had been building among the audience for the film for months was clearly visible in the long queues outside the theatres.
Magic worked at Indian box office too, net collection crossed 17 crores
There has always been a craze for Christopher Nolan’s films among the Indian audience, and ‘The Odyssey’ has proved it once again. According to preliminary data from box office tracker Sacknilk, the film has collected over Rs 17 crore nett on its first day in India. At the same time, if we talk about gross collection, this figure has touched Rs 20 crore.
In front of this historic opening, many Bollywood films released this year have also been left behind. In terms of first day earnings in India, the film has easily surpassed the opening day records of much-awaited Indian films like Cocktail 2, Welcome to the Jungle and Dhamaal 4. Cillian Murphy starrer Oppenheimer made around $33 million (approximately Rs 317 crore) worldwide on its first day. ‘The Odyssey’ has touched a new high in Nolan’s career by earning almost $ 7 million more than that on the first day.

Initial trends show that apart from metro cities, advance booking has been full on IMAX and 4DX screens in Tier-2 cities as well.
