Maruti Brezza Facelift Specifications Leaked Ahead Of Launch

The Maruti Brezza is set to get an update later this month. Several of its details have emerged in the past few days. The latest leaks have revealed the powertrain details, specifications and fuel efficiency of the upcoming SUV.

The outgoing model’s 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine will be retained on the updated version. In addition to this, a new 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine (Boosterjet) will also be introduced on the new model. According to the latest leaks, the turbo-petrol engine makes 110PS and 170Nm. It will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. On the Fronx turbo, the Boosterjet engine makes 100PS and 148Nm. Clearly, the output figures have increased significantly on the facelifted Brezza.

The 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine (K15C) will make 103PS and 139Nm. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be offered with this engine. In addition to these, a CNG powertrain will also be offered. The CNG version will see the introduction of an underbody CNG tank. This will free up boot space and make the SUV more practical for everyday use.

Now, let’s look at the fuel efficiency figures. The 1.5L petrol- manual combination is claimed to offer 21.1 kmpl. The same engine with the automatic transmission, is claimed to deliver 20.18 kmpl. The turbo-petrol has a claimed fuel efficiency of 20.82 kmpl. The CNG version’s efficiency will be 26.55 km per kg.

The leak also confirms that the new Brezza will have notable styling changes and a more feature-rich cabin. The SUV will also get new colour options, including dual-tones. The new colours are Vivacious Orange and Luster Beige. Arctic White, Sizzling Red and Luster Beige will be available with Black roofs (dual-tone options).

It will have a stronger road presence than the outgoing model. The front fascia will have slightly redesigned LED DRLs, minor tweaks in the design of LED headlamps, refreshed grille with a new Chrome ornament, and a new bumper. The silhouette will remain unchanged. The SUV will have new wheels, as well. The body cladding will likely be made thicker on the facelift.

At the rear, the updates will be subtle but important. The vehicle may see the addition of connected LED tail lamps. The tail lamps themselves will likely have refreshed internals. The rear bumper will likely be refreshed as well.

Inside, the dashboard layout is expected to remain largely the same as before. However, the feature list will see major improvements. The leak confirms that the facelift will get a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with inbuilt apps and Alexa support. The outgoing model has a smaller 9-inch display.

In addition to this, features like ventilated front seats, Auto Purify (air purification system with PM 2.5 monitoring) and 64-colour ambient lighting will also be offered. Another expected feature was a fully digital instrument cluster. It remains unclear if this will be available as well. The automatic variants may also come with paddle shifters. The revised feature list will bring the Brezza in line with sub-compact SUV rivals like the Venue and Sonet.

The introduction of the turbo-petrol engine will make the new Brezza qualify for tax benefits. This will allow the carmaker to price it sharply. The engine will further appeal to people seeking more performance from the Brezza.

Maruti has revised the variant naming system for the Brezza. The outgoing SUV has LXi, VXi, and ZXi trims. The facelift will come in six trims- L, L(O), V, Z, Z(O), and Z+. Bookings for the new model are already open. A token amount of Rs 11,000 needs to be paid to make reservations. The new SUV will continue to be sold through Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships. A wide range of accessories will also be available.
