Rakhi Sawant on Islam: Bollywood’s drama queen Rakhi Sawant is once again in the headlines for her outspoken statement. Rakhi, who is often in the news for her personal life and controversies, has this time spoken openly about her religious conversion, her identity and people’s thinking. She said that despite embracing Islam, even today many people do not consider her a Muslim, but this does not matter to her. During a recent interview, Rakhi Sawant said that every person has the right to choose the religion of his choice and no one has the right to decide who can follow which religion.
Didn’t get acceptance even after embracing Islam?
In an interview with BBC Hindi, Rakhi Sawant was asked if people accepted her as a Muslim after converting to Islam. Responding to this question, she said that even today many people do not consider her a Muslim. Rakhi said, “People don’t consider me a Muslim, but it doesn’t matter to me.” She added that some people try to determine her religious identity based on her appearance and profession.
People say I’m not Muslim.
Rakhi Sawant said that people often say that because she works in Bollywood, wears glamorous clothes, and appears in bold poses on screen, she cannot be considered Muslim. She said, “People think that because I wear short clothes and work in films, I cannot be Muslim. But I want to ask, who are you to judge?” Rakhi said that it is wrong to question a person’s religion based on their clothing or profession.
I don’t need any certificate from anyone.
Rakhi further stated that she does not need a certificate from anyone to prove her religious identity. She said, “Whoever accepts me as a Muslim or not, it does not matter to me. My relationship is with my God.” She added that faith is a personal matter and no one should have the right to interfere in it.
Umrah was mentioned
Rakhi Sawant also mentioned Umrah during the conversation. She said that she has had the opportunity to perform the holy pilgrimage several times. She said, “Some people are millionaires, but they haven’t had the opportunity to perform Umrah even once. I myself have performed Umrah eight times. This is a blessing from God for me.” Rakhi also said that one should not say derogatory things about any religion or its followers.
‘Every religion should be respected’
Rakhi Sawant said that whether someone is Hindu, Muslim, or Christian, all religions should be respected. She said, “You cannot speak ill of any religion. No one has the right to insult another’s religion.” She believes that religious tolerance and mutual respect are most important in society.
I have the right to choose my life and religion.
Rakhi said that the Indian Constitution gives every person the freedom to choose the religion of their choice and they have the full right to live their lives in their own way. She said, “I have the right to live my life. I have the freedom to choose my religion. My mother died a Christian, and my father was a Hindu. The one who gave me life and protected me is my God.”
