Continuous heavy rains have wreaked havoc in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. Due to heavy rain between 1 am and 6 am, there was sudden flood in many areas of the district. Due to heavy rains, the Dharhal river swelled and its water entered the New Bus Stand Bela area.
The flood water reached the parking lot of the bus stand, due to which many vehicles parked there were damaged. According to the report, dozens of vehicles were washed away in the flood and many buildings and other structures were also damaged. Due to continuous rains, many low-lying areas of Rajouri have been flooded, due to which life has been badly affected. In view of the flood situation, there is an atmosphere of panic among the people and the administration is constantly appealing to remain alert.

A local resident affected by the flood said, “Everything is gone. Whatever belongings we had were washed away in the flood. We have nothing left now. A woman is still missing.”
Another local resident said, “About 300 to 400 vehicles were parked here before the flood, but all of them were washed away in the flood waters overnight. We appeal to the administration to send JCB or crane, so that at least the vehicles stuck here can be taken out. People should be helped in this difficult time. At present, the flood situation remains very serious and the rain is also continuing continuously.
The situation remains serious due to continuous rains in Rajouri. The district administration has appealed to the people not to leave their homes without essential work and to stay away from rivers, drains and flood affected areas.
The administration has advised people living on the river banks to be especially cautious, because the water level of the rivers is continuously rising. People have been appealed to stay in safe places and follow the guidelines issued by the weather and administration.
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in entire Jammu and Kashmir between July 19 and 23.
Along with this, there is also a possibility of landslide, mudslide and falling of stones in sensitive areas. In such a situation, the administration has appealed to the people to stay in their homes.
