Malihabad: Pradhan’s tenure ends, Chandpur immersed in filth due to negligence of secretary and block officers.

Malihabad, Lucknow. The situation in village Chandpur of Gram Panchayat Surgaula of Malihabad development block is raising serious questions on the working style of the responsible officers. Open drains at various places in the village, filth spread on the roads and overgrown bushes have become a cause of trouble for the villagers. The situation has become worse during the rainy season, due to which the risk of spread of infectious diseases is continuously increasing.

Villagers say that complaints were made to the village head several times regarding this problem, but no concrete action was taken. Now Pradhan’s tenure has ended, after which the cleanliness system seems to be completely dependent on God. It is alleged that the cleaning workers are acting arbitrarily and regular cleaning is not being done, due to which there is a pile of filth in the village.

The villagers have also made serious allegations against the Panchayat Secretary. He says that the Secretary is not paying attention to the problems of the village and does not even like to approach the Panchayat. Block level officials are also being accused of negligence. Villagers say that despite complaining several times, neither inspection was done nor any effective steps were taken to solve the problem.

The poor pictures of the village are raising the question that why the cleanliness system and development work provided under government schemes are not visible on the ground. If cleaning of drains, cutting of bushes and cleaning of roads are not done in time, the risk of diseases may increase further during the rainy season.

The villagers have demanded from the district administration and senior officials of the concerned department that by taking immediate cognizance of the situation in village Chandpur, the accountability of the Panchayat Secretary, cleanliness system and responsible officers at the block level should be fixed and by running a war-footing cleanliness campaign in the village, people should be provided relief from dirt and possible diseases.
