Under operation ‘Dahan’, 1115.95 kg ganja worth Rs 5.57 crore was destroyed.

Naini, Prayagraj. Under “Operation Dahan”, taking a major action on Saturday, 1115.95 kg of illegal ganja, whose estimated value in the international market is estimated at Rs 5 crore 57 lakh 97 thousand 500, was destroyed by burning it after completing the legal process. This action was taken by the joint police team of Narcotics Task Force (Crime Branch), Police Station Naini and Police Station Industrial Area under the supervision of a high level committee. The destroyed ganja included This included 892.85 kg ganja recovered from Naini and 223.10 kg ganja recovered from the police station industrial area.

According to the police, earlier the teams of both the police stations had conducted a campaign against drug smugglers and recovered a huge quantity of ganja and the concerned accused were arrested and a case was registered against them under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The recovered drug was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory, where testing confirmed it to be marijuana.

During the process that lasted for about six hours in the presence of a high-level committee constituted by Police Commissioner Prayagraj, the entire 1115.95 kg of illegal ganja was safely burnt and destroyed through a system approved by the Air Pollution Control Board. During this, Deputy Commissioner of Police Headquarters, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Crime, Assistant Police Commissioner Karchana, Inspector Brijkishore Gautam, in-charge of police station Naini, SHO of Industrial Area, Kamlesh Patel, Sub-Inspector Suresh Giri, in-charge of Narcotics Task Force and other police officers and employees of both the police stations and NTF were present.
