Bollywood actress Malaika Arora has added a brand-new Mahindra Thar ROXX star edition to her garage. Videos of the actress taking delivery of the SUV have now surfaced online.
Malaika Arora, fondly called ‘Malla’ by fans, rose to superstardom through her famous dance with Shah Rukh Khan on top of a moving train in the movie ‘Dil se’. Her special appearances in Dabangg, Houseful 2, Happy New Year and Yek Number- all got massive attention. She is extremely popular on Indian television and has a massive following on social media. The news of a new Thar ROXX reaching her garage went viral in no time.
Several videos of the car and its delivery have surfaced. In one of them, we see the actress posing for photographs with the SUV. She has chosen the Star Edition (Diesel AT) which has an ex-showroom price of Rs 19.29 lakh, ex-showroom. The Star edition is available in four colour options- Everest White, Tango Red, Stealth Black and Citrine Yellow. Malaika has chosen the Yellow, the signature shade, for herself. This is the shoutiest of all.
Another video shows her doing aarti on the SUV. It is part of the Indian culture to do aarti on newly-bought vehicles. We can also see her receiving the keys from a dealership staff, signing the papers, and even clicking a picture of the vehicle on her phone.
Mahindra launched the Thar ROXX Star Edition in January this year. It is essentially a version that feels more premium and is better-looking than the regular ROXX. It keeps all signature cues of the regular ROXX safe, and adds extra bits like ‘Star edition’ badges and more. It definitely stands out from the rest of the pack.
The Star Edition remains mechanically unchanged. It is purely a cosmetic upgrade. The front grille gets a gloss Black finish. On Malaika’s car, it strikes a stark contrast with the Citrine Yellow colour. Even the wheels have an all-Black theme. This enhances the overall road presence. The rear quarter glass gets a unique Star edition badge.
Inside, the layout and overall design remains the same as the standard ROXX. The Star edition, however, uses more upmarket materials. It gets all-black leatherette upholstery with Suede inserts. The cabin looks richer and more premium than that of the regular ROXX.
The Star edition comes with features like front seat ventilation, sliding front armrest, automatic climate control, tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, Adrenox connected car technology with 83 features, and a 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio. The Star Edition ROXX also come with level 2 ADAS.
In addition to the ADAS suite, this SUV comes equipped with six airbags, parking sensors, a rear parking camera, an immobiliser and an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror.
The regular Thar ROXX is available with two engine options- 2.0L turbocharged petrol (mStallion) and 2.2L turbo-diesel (mHawk). These are both offered on the Star edition as well. The diesel engine is available with the choice of a manual and an automatic transmission while the petrol engine is only offered with an automatic gearbox.
The petrol version makes 174bhp and 380Nm, while the diesel has an output of 172 bhp and 400 Nm. The Star Edition is only available with a rear wheel drive (RWD) configuration. 4WD (Four Wheel Drive) is not offered on this version.
The starting ex-showroom price of Star Edition is Rs 17.78 lakh, for the petrol diesel manual. The petrol automatic costs Rs 18.79 lakh, ex-showroom. The diesel automatic is the most expensive, at Rs 19.29 lakh, ex-showroom.
