India Doping Cases 2026: 78 doping cases in the country till July 15, UP and Punjab at the forefront

New Delhi: Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya shared important information in the Lok Sabha regarding the cases of doping among players in India. He informed that till July 15, 2026, a total of 78 doping cases have been registered in the country. Among these, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab are at the top, where 13 players each were found positive for consumption of banned substances.

Government gave figures in Lok Sabha

In a written reply to the question of BJP MP Sambit Patra, the Sports Minister said that under the National Anti-Doping Rules, 2021, players found guilty of doping have been banned from participating in sports activities.

Highest number of doping cases in these states

According to the data shared by the government, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab have reported the highest number of 13 cases each. After this, 11 doping cases have been reported in Madhya Pradesh and 9 in Karnataka.

What were the figures compared to previous years?

According to the Sports Minister, 213 doping cases were registered across the country in the year 2023. This number will increase to 260 in 2024, while it will decrease to 131 in 2025. Whereas in 2026, till July 15, 78 cases have been registered.

No doping case found in these states

According to the government, no player from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya and Sikkim was found guilty of doping.

Government steps to stop doping

Mansukh Mandaviya said that the government is continuously organizing awareness campaigns, seminars and workshops to keep players away from doping. Its purpose is to inform the players about the side effects and rules of banned substances.
