This sharp rise in gold prices just before the festive season has raised concerns among the general public. Gold prices in India have risen for the fourth consecutive day, reaching their highest level in over a month. Following this sudden surge, bullion market traders believe prices may rise further. Customers are now waiting for prices to stabilize before making purchases.

Latest gold and silver prices

Today, a huge increase of Rs 2890 per 10 grams was recorded in the price of 24 carat purity gold in the domestic bullion market. After this huge increase, the price of 24 carat gold has reached a new level of Rs 1,49,730 per 10 grams. Along with this, the price of 22 carat gold also increased to Rs 1,37,250 per 10 grams. Whereas the rate of 18 carat gold in the country today was recorded at Rs 1,12,300 per 10 grams.

Today was a disappointing day for silver buyers, as silver prices also saw a sharp rise. Silver prices jumped by ₹6,200 to ₹2,76,864 per kilogram. Meanwhile, silver futures on the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) rose ₹794 to ₹2,28,378 per kilogram. According to the Sarafa Association, this rise in prices was due to increased industrial demand.

Rates in metropolises and expert opinion

Today’s gold prices in major Indian cities are ₹145,900 per 10 grams for 24-carat gold in Delhi. In major metropolises like Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Hyderabad, the price is currently ₹145,750 per 10 grams. Gold is also selling for ₹145,900 in Lucknow and Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. In Patna, the capital of Bihar, the price is ₹145,800 per 10 grams.

Commenting on this record rise, Saumil Gandhi, senior analyst at HDFC Securities, said that gold prices have risen on hopes of a de-escalation of US-Iran tensions. The hope of reopening the Strait of Hormuz has eased inflation concerns among investors. Praveen Singh of Mirae Asset Sharekhan added that the sharp drop in crude oil prices has significantly reduced concerns about the Federal Reserve raising interest rates.
