US ready for talks, but Iran’s current situation is dire: Marco Rubio Gujarati

New York, July 22, 2026: America’s Secretary of State Marco Rubio has given a big and important statement. He said that America is still open to talks with Iran, but is not serious about it. He also said that Iran is in big trouble due to the American-Israeli attack. Rubio made this statement during the meeting of foreign ministers of ASEAN countries held in Manila, the capital of the Philippines on Wednesday.

Marco Rubio said, “So our biggest problem is that they are not serious about negotiations. If they are serious, so will we. If not, we will do whatever is necessary to protect our interests and those of our allies.” Rubio also expressed his views on the Strait of Hormuz. He said, “Their (Iran’s) attitude of ‘We will control Hormuz’ sets a bad precedent. ‘Pay us the toll or we will blow up your ship’ is extremely dangerous. Similar things may be repeated in other areas of the world in the future; this is necessary for free navigation.”

According to Rubio, the current situation in Iran is dire. He said, “Iran is currently in a very difficult situation. The conflict with America and Israel has caused significant damage to Iran’s economy and military capabilities.” When asked about US casualty numbers, Rubio said there are risks involved in any conflict zone. He said, “Wherever you are in a war zone, there are risks associated with it,”

Regarding Tehran’s ability to take revenge, he said that the current situation proves that Iran has invested its resources in this direction for the last 20 years. “This actually proves that Iran has been using its money for this purpose for the last 20 years,” he said.
