Amita’s career as a lead actress started with the 1951 religious film Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. After this, he got a chance to work with his favorite star Madhubala in the film Sharif Farhad released in 1956. Where she was in the role of Madhubala’s friend. After this, Amita started getting lead roles and was seen in films like ‘Ve Zamana’ and ‘Hum Sab Chor Hain’ alongside Shammi Kapoor and Nalini Jaywant. The biggest turning point of Amita’s career came in the year 1957 when Tolaram Jalan, the owner of Filmstan Studio, made the film ‘Tumsa Nahi Dekha’.
