CARPL.ai Bags $10 Mn To Scale Its AI Medical Imaging Marketplace

SUMMARY

AI-powered healthtech startup CARPL.ai has raised $10 Mn in a Series A funding round led by IFC, with participation from existing investor Stellaris Venture Partners and other undisclosed investors.

The fundraise comes as healthcare providers increasingly adopt AI-powered medical imaging tools to improve diagnostic workflows, creating demand for platforms that simplify deployment and management across multiple AI vendors.

CARPL.ai will use the fresh capital for product development, strengthening its technology stack, and expanding its global sales and delivery teams.

AI-powered healthtech startup Carpl.ai has raised $10 Mn (about ₹96 Cr) in its Series A funding round led by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank Group’s private sector investment arm.

Existing investor Stellaris Venture Partners and a clutch of undisclosed investors also participated in the round.

Speaking with Inc42, CARPL.ai founder Vidur Mahajan said the startup will use the fresh capital for product development and expanding its sales and delivery teams globally. A portion of the proceeds will also be deployed to strengthen its technology stack.

Founded in 2018 by Mahajan and officially launched in 2021, CARPL.ai is a healthtech SaaS startup that provides an AI platform enabling hospitals and radiologists to deploy, manage, and monitor multiple medical imaging AI applications through a single software interface.

Typically, each AI vendor comes with its own software, APIs, workflows and integration requirements, making it expensive and operationally complex for hospitals to work with multiple providers.

CARPL.ai seeks to address this challenge through its marketplace, which allows healthcare providers to browse, test, and deploy commercial radiology AI models developed by different vendors.

The startup claims to host more than 300 AI applications from over 100 vendors on its platform.

It has also partnered with several Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) companies, which provide software and hardware used to store, retrieve, manage, and share medical images such as X-rays and MRI scans.

Mahajan told Inc42 that CARPL.ai currently serves 30 hospitals and medical centres across North America, Latin America, Europe, the UK, the Middle East, India, Southeast Asia and Australia.

Its customers include the Singapore government, the Clinton Health Access Initiative in India, I-MED Radiology Network in Australia, RadNet in the US, Fleury in Brazil, and Medica in the UK.

Headquartered in Delhi NCR, CARPL.ai also has offices in the San Francisco Bay Area and Singapore. The startup claims to have a team of 80 employees.

Prior to this round, CARPL.ai raised $6 Mn in 2023 from Stellaris Venture Partners and a clutch of angel investors.

The fundraise comes amid growing investor interest in the adoption of artificial intelligence across the healthtech sector.

In June, healthtech startup Mykare closed its $3.2 Mn funding round. A month earlier, wearable healthtech startup Gabit also bagged around ₹36.2 Cr in a fresh funding round from a clutch of angel investors.

At the heart of all this is the homegrown healthtech market, which is projected to become a $37 Bn opportunity by 2030.
