As the Bollywood A-listers are now raising their voices in favour of protesting youngsters, Varun Dhawan also spoke up for the students protesting over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak.
The 39-year-old actor took to Instagram and put up a note that got straight to the point.
“Students are the future of our country. When a student’s dream is crushed, it’s not just one dream that’s lost; it’s the dream of an entire family. They have every right to ask questions when they feel the system has failed them. Their voices deserve to be heard, protected, and addressed with sincerity,” he wrote.
The Student of the Year star also had something to say to the people in charge.
“I appeal to the authorities to engage with these concerns and work towards a fair, transparent, and meaningful resolution that ensures accountability. Peaceful protest is a democratic right, and every student should be allowed to exercise that right. Jai Hind.”
The wolf actor also made one thing clear, this should stay a students’ movement. The focus, he said, must remain on the issues and the solutions, not anything else.
Varun’s not alone in saying this. The past week has seen a flood of celebrities speaking up, Alia Bhatt, Salman Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, Rajkummar Rao, Sonakshi Sinha, all of them.
Huma Qureshi and her brother Saqib Saleem even turned up at Jantar Mantar at 2 in the morning to actually walk with the students.
And the protests are not small. Thousands have been camped at Jantar Mantar for weeks now, demanding Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
Sonam Wangchuk joined the hunger strike back on June 28 that played an important part in highlighting the issue on national level.
