IND vs ZIM T20: Mayank-Vaibhav lead India to victory, defeat Zimbabwe by 7 wickets

The first match of the three-match T20 series between India and Zimbabwe was played on 23 July at Harare Sports Club. This match was low-scoring, of which the Indian team took full advantage. Team India performed brilliantly and won the match by 7 wickets. This victory was very special for India as well as for captain Shreyas Iyer, because this is his first victory as Indian T20 captain.

 

In this match, both India’s bowlers and batsmen performed strongly. First Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav broke the back of Zimbabwe with their brilliant bowling. After this, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who came into bat, scored a record-breaking half-century in a stormy manner and took India very close to an easy victory.

zimbabwe innings

Zimbabwe batted first and did not have a good start at all. The team lost 3 wickets in the power play itself and could score only 26 runs. After this, the pace of batting remained very slow even in the middle overs. Between 7 and 15 overs, the team lost 2 wickets and added only 52 runs. However, the batsmen tried to play a little faster in the death overs and scored 47 runs after losing 2 wickets between 16 and 20 overs. Despite this, Zimbabwe could score only 125 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.

For Zimbabwe, Wesley Madhevere scored the highest score of 39 runs. Tadivanashe Marumani returned unbeaten after scoring 27 runs, while Ryan Burl played an inning of 26 runs. For India, Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav took 2-2 wickets, while Shivam Dubey and Ravi Bishnoi took 1-1 wicket.

Indian team’s innings

Indian batsmen took the Zimbabwe bowlers very seriously. In the powerplay, Team India scored 66 runs after losing 1 wicket. After this the team did not even play the middle overs and achieved the target easily. Between 7 and 14 overs, India added 60 runs after losing 2 wickets. Due to this strong batting, Team India scored 126 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in just 13.2 overs and won the match by 7 wickets with 40 balls remaining.

 

Vaibhav Suryavanshi played the highest innings of 50 runs for India. Apart from him, Ishan Kishan scored 35 runs, while Shreyas Iyer returned unbeaten after scoring 28 runs. On behalf of Zimbabwe, Ashirwad Muzarabani took maximum 2 wickets, while Richard Ngarawa got 1 wicket.
