Incessant rain in Uttar Pradesh has disrupted normal life in several districts. Waterlogging, road blockages, and flooding in low-lying areas are occurring at many locations. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the state, prompting the administration to be on full alert.
In light of the potential for lightning strikes along with the rain, the government has intensified precautionary measures. The state government’s focus is on relief, rescue, and timely delivery of assistance to affected people.
The Chief Minister directed the officers to go to the field.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued clear instructions to all concerned officials in the state that they should not remain confined to their offices, but should personally visit affected areas to assess the situation. He said that wherever rain, floods, or lightning have caused damage, there should be no laxity in relief and rescue operations.
The Chief Minister instructed senior officials to prioritize the grievances of affected families and ensure timely delivery of all possible government assistance. He also directed the local administration to continuously monitor the situation.
Order to pay compensation within 24 hours
The government has decided to expedite the relief process for those affected by natural disasters. The Chief Minister has directed that any incidents resulting from lightning, heavy rainfall, or other rain-related events that result in human deaths, livestock loss, or property damage be immediately surveyed.
He directed officials to ensure that the damage assessment is completed and the appropriate relief funds are disbursed to eligible affected individuals within 24 hours. He also emphasized the need to expedite rehabilitation work.
Appeal to people to be cautious
The Chief Minister also appealed to the people of the state to exercise caution. He said that if there is a possibility of lightning, do not leave your homes unnecessarily. Avoid standing in open fields, under trees, or near power poles.
He also said that during heavy rains, people should avoid entering or bathing in rivers, ponds, and other bodies of water, as such conditions increase the risk of accidents. It is essential for all citizens to follow the safety guidelines issued by the administration.
Orange alert issued in many districts
The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for several districts in Uttar Pradesh, anticipating heavy to very heavy rainfall. The districts that have been advised to exercise special caution include Agra, Aligarh, Amethi, Auraiya, Ayodhya, Baghpat, Banda, Barabanki, Bhadohi, Bulandshahr, Chitrakoot, Etawah, Fatehpur, Firozabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hamirpur, and Hapur, among others. The weather department has also advised people to avoid unnecessary travel and stay in safe places during bad weather.
Relief and rescue teams fully active
The government has directed all district administrations to maintain special vigilance in waterlogged areas and to immediately dispatch relief and rescue teams if necessary. Furthermore, instructions have been given to maintain constant surveillance in vulnerable areas, maintain the functioning of drains and drainage systems, and keep emergency services on standby.
The state government maintains that providing immediate assistance to affected people is a top priority in any disaster situation. Coordination between the administration, the Meteorological Department, and disaster management departments is being continuously monitored to minimize damage caused by the rains.
