Sonam Wangchuk ends her fast, but Abhijeet Deepke refuses to stop the protest; Demand for resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan

New Delhi: Social activist Sonam Wangchuk has ended her 26-day fast unto death, but the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has made it clear that its movement is not over yet. Party founder Abhijit Deepke said that the ongoing peaceful protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar will continue until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns from his post.

Abhijeet Deepke expressed gratitude

Abhijit Deepke welcomed Sonam Wangchuk’s decision on social media platform X and praised her courage. He said that by fasting for 26 days, Wangchuk drew the attention of the entire country towards this issue and forced people to think. Deepke wrote that the country respects his sacrifice and struggle and it is very important for him to remain healthy.

Announcement to continue the movement

Deepke clarified that the end of Wangchuk’s fast does not mean the end of the movement. He said that CJP’s peaceful protest will continue until accountability is fixed in the matter of alleged irregularities in the NEET exam and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan does not resign.

Wangchuk broke his fast after 26 days

Sonam Wangchuk ended her fast at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram in the presence of Union Minister JP Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh. He said that this decision was taken after long talks with the government and consensus on many issues.

Wangchuk also said that in view of the possibility of any kind of violence in the country, he decided to end the fast. He told that 65 MPs from different political parties had also appealed to him to end the fast.

Appeal to supporters to maintain peace

After ending the fast, Wangchuk appealed to his supporters that the movement should remain completely peaceful and any kind of violence should be avoided. He said that soon he will release a video giving information about the entire incident and the terms of the talks.

Security increased at Jantar Mantar

In view of the ongoing protests in Delhi, the administration has tightened security arrangements. Recently, during the Parliament march, there was a situation of tension between the protesters and the police. After this, additional security forces have been deployed in Jantar Mantar and surrounding areas. At present CJP has called for continuing the movement peacefully across the country.
