Tension will increase between Zomato-Swiggy, now Flipkart’s entry in food delivery, can change the whole game
Flipkart Food Delivery: India’s online food delivery market is soon going to become more competitive. As everyone knows that till now Zomato and Swiggy have dominated this sector but now e-commerce giant Flipkart has also prepared to enter this race. Regarding which the company has indicated that it will start its food delivery business in the next few weeks. In such a situation, along with customers getting new options, the war between prices and offers may also intensify.
Will start on a limited scale first
Regarding this new business, Flipkart Group Chief Executive Officer Kalyan Krishnamurthy said in an interview to Bussiness, ‘We will start food delivery in the next few weeks. We will test the value proposition with customers, take feedback and keep improving the product until customers really love it. After that we will start expanding it.” Information is coming out that the company will initially launch this service on a limited scale. After receiving initial feedback, it will be extended to other cities in a phased manner. This strategy is believed to be similar to the launch model of Flipkart Minutes.
Will there be a separate app or will the facility be available on Flipkart also?
Giving information, the CEO said that the food delivery service will also be available through a separate app and it can also be accessed inside the Flipkart app. But the company has not yet revealed the branding, launch date or name of the first city. Reports are emerging that Flipkart can integrate its new service with the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). But the company has not officially confirmed this.

Competition is increasing in the food delivery market
It is seen that Flipkart is entering this sector at a time when many companies are trying to make their place in the market with new business models. In which recently ride-hailing company Rapido launched Ownly platform which focuses on low prices, zero restaurant commission and bringing more customers online. Keeping in mind the value-for-money customers, Swiggy has also introduced a new app named Toing. In such a situation, the competition in the online food delivery market is expected to become even more interesting with the entry of Flipkart. Regarding which experts believe that the biggest benefit of increasing competition can be given to the customers in the form of better offers, lower delivery charges and more options.
