Tezzbuzz Desk – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed concern over the frequent disruptions of Parliament’s proceedings during the monsoon session. In a meeting with MPs, PM Modi said that many new MPs are unable to express their views due to the uproar and disruptions in the House. He called this an injustice to new MPs and appealed to all MPs to actively participate in parliamentary debates.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a breakfast meeting with MPs from various political parties on Thursday. Sources indicate that approximately 45 MPs from various parties, including the Shiv Sena, the National People’s Party (NCP), and the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar), attended the meeting. During the meeting, the Prime Minister discussed parliamentary work, the development of their constituencies, and public issues with the MPs.
New MPs are not getting a chance to speak
Prime Minister Modi raised the issue of frequent disruptions to Parliamentary proceedings. He urged MPs to participate in debates in the House and present their views strongly. To achieve this, he advised MPs to study parliamentary history and understand past debates. PM Modi stated that Parliament has a wealth of past records and debate material available, which MPs can use for their preparation. He emphasized that MPs should come to the House fully prepared and play an active role in discussions on important issues.
The monsoon session has seen constant clashes between the ruling party and the opposition over various issues. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha proceedings have been adjourned several times due to uproar. The Prime Minister expressed concern that new MPs are not getting adequate opportunities to speak.
“Only when the states progress, will the country progress.”
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi urged MPs to pay special attention to the development of their states and constituencies. He emphasized that the nation’s progress is linked to the progress of its states. Only when states progress can the nation progress rapidly. PM Modi urged MPs to play an active role in advancing development projects in their constituencies. If any development initiative requires central assistance, they should contact the relevant level and seek resolution.
The Prime Minister also raised the issue of development in the Northeastern states. He told the MPs that it is essential to integrate every region of the country into the mainstream of development. After the meeting, NCPI MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay also stated that he discussed the development of the Northeastern region with the Prime Minister.
Go among the people and understand their problems.
Prime Minister Modi advised MPs to maintain regular contact with the public. He said that MPs should meet with diverse sections of society, including the poor, laborers, and farmers, and understand their problems. It is important for public representatives to be aware of the needs and problems of the people in their areas. During the meeting, PM Modi also spoke with MPs individually and inquired about their well-being. He advised MPs to take care of their health, saying that staying healthy is essential for serving the country and the people.
The Prime Minister also advised MPs to stay updated and aware of the changes taking place in the country and the world. He said that parliamentary responsibility is not limited to simply being present in the House, but rather MPs should actively contribute to the development of their region and the country. PM Modi also conveyed in the meeting that a political party’s importance to the government is not determined solely by the number of its MPs. According to him, a party with even one MP should be given the same respect and importance as parties with more MPs.
The Prime Minister’s remarks assume significance amid the ongoing political deadlock in the monsoon session of Parliament. He particularly emphasized the need to give new MPs an opportunity to express their views in the House and strengthen parliamentary debate.
