Tezzbuzz DeskClimate activist Sonam Wangchuk, after ending her 26-day hunger strike, has expressed displeasure over the allegations in which claims are being made against her of making some kind of deal with the government. In a video message released from the hospital, Wangchuk said that if he had had to make a compromise, he would not have remained hungry in the scorching heat for 26 days. He asked that even after such a long hunger strike and 11 kg weight loss, will he have to prove his honesty?
Wangchuk said that he is making this video with sadness and anger. He told that his health was greatly affected during the fast for 26 days. He said that if he had to make a deal, he could have done so while sitting in a comfortable place, there was no need to go through such a difficult situation for this.
While sharing his experience of staying in the hospital, he alleged that after being taken from Jantar Mantar to Safdarjung Hospital on July 18, the environment there was not like a normal hospital. According to him, he was kept under strict surveillance there and many restrictions were imposed.
Wangchuk claimed that he did not have complete freedom to meet anyone in the hospital. Only a few relatives were allowed to meet and no mobile or laptop was allowed. He said that he used to write messages on napkins to convey his message to the people, which was stopped many times.
He also alleged that many people who had come to meet him from Ladakh were sent back. Wangchuk termed this as a restriction on his rights and said that such a situation is a matter of concern for the democratic system.
Wangchuk said that even after the order of the High Court, he was not allowed to leave the hospital immediately. After this he protested and had an argument with the policemen while coming out of the hospital. A video of this incident also surfaced, in which he was seen expressing his displeasure.
He further said that later when he was taken to Medanta Hospital, the security arrangements there were very strict. According to him, there was police deployment there too and there were restrictions on meeting and movement.
Sonam Wangchuk said that he did not make all the videos of these incidents public earlier because he did not want to cause trouble to any employee or officer. However, he said that what has emerged is only a part of the whole situation.
